Keep the mineral surface. Improve how it performs.
ECODURFIX® RIDE SYSTEM is a specialist system for mineral riding surfaces on BMX tracks, pump tracks, MTB trails, dirt lines and bike parks. Designed to integrate into professional track and trail construction, it aims to improve surface cohesion and stability and reduce maintenance intensity while preserving the mineral character of the riding surface.
What ECODURFIX® RIDE is
Surface technology for mineral riding surfaces.
On BMX tracks, pump tracks, MTB trails, dirt lines and bike parks, the mineral riding surface is an active part of how the facility performs and evolves with use, weather and maintenance. ECODURFIX® RIDE SYSTEM is developed to improve surface cohesion and surface stability while preserving the mineral character of the riding surface.
RIDE SYSTEM is not intended as a stand-alone product and does not replace the builder’s construction expertise. It integrates into the construction process by adding surface technology, material criteria and a project-specific technical configuration.
You build the track. RIDE SYSTEM adds the surface technology.
The challenge
What riding demands from a mineral surface.
On a BMX track, pump track or MTB trail, the mineral riding surface is exposed to repeated, highly localised loads. Starts, turns, braking, acceleration, jumps and landings concentrate stress on specific areas of the riding surface.
- Repeated riding
- Braking
- Acceleration
- Landing impacts
- Rainfall
- Runoff
- Loss of fines
- Surface erosion
- Localised wear
Over time, these loads can reduce surface cohesion and contribute to loose material, ruts, surface irregularities and localised wear. These effects may lead to material redistribution, top-ups, recompaction and periodic repairs.
Maintenance & lifecycle
The surface does not end when construction does.
Construction and maintenance are part of the same system.
A mineral riding surface continues to evolve after construction. Water, weather and use affect the surface over time, and maintenance remains part of normal operation. The relevant question is not whether maintenance will be required, but how often it will be needed and what it will involve.
Typical maintenance interventions
- Periodic inspection
- Localised repairs
- Material redistribution
- Top-ups and replacement of fines
- Recompaction
- Correction of braking zones
- Repair of runoff channels after rainfall
- Reprofiling of worn areas
What they involve
- Labour
- Machinery
- Replacement material
- Temporary or partial closures
Initial construction cost ≠ total lifecycle cost.
- ConstructionInitial construction of the riding surface
- MaintenanceInspection and periodic maintenance
- RepairsMaterial, machinery and labour
- OperationAvailability of the facility
- Lifecycle costEverything required to keep the surface operational over its service life
A mineral riding surface should not be assessed only by its initial construction cost. For an operator, club or owner, the relevant measure is the amount of labour, material, machinery and operational disruption required over time. This is where reducing maintenance intensity becomes relevant.
Built for mineral surfaces. Designed for lower maintenance intensity.
The system is designed to reduce the intensity and frequency of certain interventions associated with surface breakdown. This does not imply maintenance-free operation or a guaranteed reduction. Actual requirements depend on the project configuration, materials, construction quality, use and local conditions.
Surface behaviour
What ECODURFIX® RIDE changes in the mineral riding surface.
RIDE targets one of the mechanisms that drives maintenance on mineral riding surfaces: the progressive loss of surface cohesion and the resulting surface breakdown.
Surface cohesion
Treatment designed to improve particle bonding and help limit surface breakdown and loss of fines.
Surface stability
Project-specific configuration designed to improve how the riding surface responds to repeated riding, braking and runoff.
Mineral character
The riding surface remains visually and materially mineral. RIDE does not turn it into a rigid pavement.
Surface protection
The treatment can be integrated into the surface configuration and, where required, complemented by a surface treatment according to the project design.
Maintenance
RIDE is configured to help limit surface breakdown and the generation of loose material, reducing the need for redistribution, top-ups and recompaction. The riding surface still requires inspection and maintenance.
Applications
Mineral riding surfaces for BMX tracks, pump tracks, MTB trails and bike parks.
BMX Racing
Straights, berms and jump sections on competition and training tracks, where the riding surface is exposed to repeated braking, acceleration and concentrated loads.
MTB Trails
Trail surfaces, features and technical sections exposed to runoff, braking and localised wear.
Dirt Jumps & Lines
Dirt jumps and dirt lines where take-off and landing surfaces are an integral part of the riding experience and require consistent surface behaviour.
Pump Tracks
Pump tracks built with mineral or compacted aggregate surfaces, including rollers, berms and continuously ridden sections.
Bike Parks
Multi-discipline facilities where riding surface condition and maintenance requirements directly affect day-to-day operation.
Also suitable for: BMX training areas, skills areas, beginner lines and other mineral riding surfaces, both in new construction and in the improvement of existing surfaces.
Builder integration
Builder + ECODURFIX® RIDE: complementary technology, not a competitor.
Designed to work with builders.
SEI does not replace the builder’s role in track geometry or construction. Design, earthworks, shaping, drainage and compaction remain within the builder’s expertise. RIDE adds the surface-technology layer associated with the behaviour of the mineral riding surface.
Builder
Designs and builds the track
- Track design and geometry
- Earthworks and construction
- Shaping of jumps, berms and lines
- Compaction
- Drainage
ECODURFIX® RIDE
Adds the surface technology
- Material criteria
- Treatment configuration
- Surface treatment technology
- Technical support
- Project-specific integration
The builder remains responsible for the design and physical construction of the riding surface. SEI provides the surface technology and technical criteria for the treatment.
If you manage a bike park, BMX club or municipal facility, or you are developing a new track, you can ask your builder to assess RIDE for the project or contact SEI so we can review it together.
Discuss RIDE for your project →Project-specific configuration
A system, not a product: every riding surface requires its own configuration.
Every riding surface is different.
The behaviour of a mineral riding surface depends on how material, moisture, compaction, geometry, treatment and finishing conditions interact. There is no single configuration that works for every track. SEI defines the RIDE configuration on a project-by-project basis.
Application criteria are provided as part of the technical documentation for each project.
- Available material
- Fine fraction
- Geometry
- Drainage
- Climate
- Intensity of use
- Discipline
- Construction method
- Finish expectations
- Maintenance plan

For builders
Are you a track or trail builder?
RIDE is designed to integrate into your construction process, not replace it.
It can become an additional surface-technology option within your proposal, helping you offer a mineral riding surface designed for lower maintenance intensity for the operator or owner.
